Last week, my little team got to spend time in Dallas
helping Cru staff at the Annual
Leadership Gathering Conference and hanging out (if you don’t remember,
everyone on my little team lives in a completely different part of the US). It
was an enriching time of work and team bonding, even though one of the ladies
will be transitioning off our team at the end of this month.
We did work and talked to lots of team leaders about microsites and helping set up sites, but I don't want to talk about work. Instead, I'll show you all the fun things we did as a team! Like visiting the JFK assassination memorial:
We Accidentally Smiled
We got to celebrate my birthday, even though it was about
two weeks ago. I chose to get dessert at this place called Emporium Pies, and
they had such interesting choices!
Yummy Pies
We had some delicious Texas BBQ on Wednesday, and then we went to the Dallas World
Aquarium. It is definitely more than an aquarium… there were lots of tropical
birds and reptiles, and a few mammals, like Jewel the sloth. Here are a few of
my favorite animals.

I Sleep with This! (Stuffed Animal Version)
That evening, we picked up Ryan from the hotel and went to
dinner together. On the way to the restraurant, we saw a giant pile of ornaments
and decided to take a selfie next to it. And this is what happens when your
boss is 6’7” and everyone else is a foot shorter than that:
Our Faces Get Cut Off
On Thursday, we spent the day at the hotel talking with team
leaders and showing them how microsites can help bring in seeking Christians to
join Cru on their campuses. In the evening, we ate at a fantastic Mexican
restaurant and checked out a speakeasy in Deep Ellum district. We stopped by a piano bar on the way, and I was asked whether or not I can see myself doing that for a living. Answer: Nah, too loud and too rowdy.
Loud + Rowdy
But it has been such a fun time! And almost all of them will be in Orlando
again this week for our team’s Christmas party J
Can’t wait to hang out with them more.
And wow it's December! As the year comes to a close, I may do some end-of-year reflections, but no promises. More to come...
